Delicious Clusone

Delicious Clusone

Description

What you will do:

- Private guided tour to the most important monuments. Those visiting Clusone cannot miss the Fanzago Planetary Clock and the fresco of the Triumph of Death and Dance of Death (with the church of the Disciplini).

- Reserved entrance inside the Fanzago Planetary Clock (visitable only with a guide).

- Tasting of the Clusone Biscuit at the Pasticceria Trussardi and culinary tips

What awaits you:

As Claude Levi Strauss said "Cooking is a language, through which society unconsciously reveals its structure". This tour ends with the tasting of the typical Clusone Biscuit, a historic and recently recovered recipe. The knowledge of a place and a culture inevitably passes also through its cuisine and this is even more true in Italy, where the culinary tradition is a distinctive trait of our society.

During my tour I will suggest other wonderful itineraries for you to follow in the province and in the Seriana Valley. Small hidden treasures, panoramic sanctuaries, works of art by famous artists that you will never imagine, paths and mountain refuges, traditional festivals. You will realise that this valley deserves a long, long vacation to get to know it well!

If you want to stop in the city’s restaurants, I will suggest the typical dishes to try and that you can take home or cook yourself, often the result of simple “poor” tradition that did its best to create decent and nutritious dishes with the little available.

The visit will end by tasting the Clusone Biscuit prepared by Pasticceria Trussardi, which has been working in the historic centre for 40 years. In 2001, they rediscovered a historic recipe from the beginning of the 20th century that had been lost for decades. Pastry chef Giuseppe Mantegazza created the Clusone Biscuit in 1920 and produced it until the fifties when he ceased his business and left the Seriana Valley. In 2001 the Municipal Administration of Clusone wanted to recover this historic recipe in agreement with the pastry chef's daughter. She recovered the recipe from her father's notebooks and tasted the new biscuits so that they were identical to those invented by Mantegazza.

The Clusone Biscuit is a cross between meringue and amaretto, covered with fine dark chocolate.

And as Camillo Benso Count of Cavour said to celebrate the recent Unity of Italy "Today we made history and now we go to eat".

MEETING POINT:

For those arriving by private bus or car the meeting point is Piazzale del Sole, the best carpark. For those arriving by public transport, the recommended stop is Piazza IV Novembre (in front of the library). We will walk together through the historic centre, introducing the history of Clusone with stops in the various squares.

THE TOUR CAN BE DONE IN ITALIAN AND SPANISH

GROUP DETAILS:
