The Locanda - consisting of three rooms, a suite and an apartment with kitchen - is located in the "La Casazza" building constructed in 1357, former seat of the Veneto postal service, in the exact centre of upper Bergamo, a walled city that recently gained UNESCO World Heritage status. Built entirely of Sarnico stone, an autochthonous material that is no longer available, it has been completely restored by architects and craftsmen who are among the most specialised in the art of restoration.
In the building, on the ground floor, managed by the same family, the Mimmo Restaurant has been located since 1956, a historical place considered by the people of Bergamo to be the heart of the city.
The guesthouse is on the top floor and has been built from two newly renovated apartments and made as welcoming as a hotel. Inside you can find old prints and Italian design objects.
In every room you can enjoy a private bathroom, Italian or continental breakfast, WIFI, mini bar, TV, air conditioning, the reception services are those that are found in the Mimmo family restaurant: the warmth of a house and professionalism of a hotel.
Hence the name Locanda that expresses the desire to prolong a meeting with guests after a dinner in the restaurant or a stop at the "Café della Corsarola" with croissants and homemade cakes.
Mimmo Amaddeo and his wife Lina arrived in Upper Bergamo in 1956, with their 3 children and a passion: cooking their recipes for others. Since then the DaMimmo method has not changed: daily commitment, cheerfulness and freshness of raw materials. Today, Massimo and Roberto, two of Mimmo's seven children, renew this family passion every day, trying to satisfy customers by channelling their inexhaustible energy in recreating the family atmosphere through taste. With a focus on simplicity, respect for the rhythms and seasons of nature and on continuous research; this is the way of working at DaMimmo, which, however, makes their impact on the environmental a little lighter. The criteria for purchasing produce has always privileged quality and goodness, paying great attention to the origin of the produce and their production. For this reason, flour, butter, eggs, honey, meats, cured meats, vegetables, cheeses, milk and fruit come from local and / or organic productions. DaMimmo is a restaurant of the Slow Food alliance.
