Quattro Portoni Dairy

Quattro Portoni Dairy

Description

The Quattro Portoni Dairy has added a pinch of novelty to the dairy tradition of the Bergamo plain, choosing buffalo milk for the production of its cheeses. A milk with an intense flavour that attributes an even more particular taste to the products that derive from it.

The milk used in the dairy comes from the company’s farm, where the Mediterranean buffaloes are raised in a completely open stable, to protect the animal's well-being.

The Agricultural Company was founded in 1968 by Renato Gritti, father of the current owners Bruno and Alfio. However, it is only since 2000 that the Gritti family decided to reinvent themselves and add the Mediterranean buffaloes to their Friesian herd, until they completely replaced them. The Quattro Portoni Dairy was opened in 2006 and the company shop offers more than 15 types of fresh cheeses, matured cheeses, yoghurt and the famous Blu di Bufala that bewitched Carlo Petrini, the founder of Slow Food.

Every year the company organises the "Buffalo festival" between May and June, where you can taste the company's products, from cheeses to meats, and visit the buffalo farm accompanied by the producers.
