The fountain was built between the XII and XIII centuries. It was fed by the water coming from the spring of the Rocca hill, but the water reserve was exhausted in the XVIII century; maybe for this very reason, it took the name of Fontana Secca (Dry Fountain).
lts architectonic features are the same of the other medieval fountains. lt consisted of a very wide arch, was equipped with an underground chamber accessible through a staircase and, at its rear, there was a tank with a door for inspections and cleaning.
