Top 10 Trekking Routes in the province of Bergamo

Keen to explore the mountains of Bergamo on foot, but not sure where to begin? Here’s a handpicked selection of special routes – ten hidden gems that wind through the Orobie Prealps, touching valleys and unforgettable places.

Just like the urban trekking routes, these trails vary in difficulty, from easy (perfect for families and beginners) to moderate and challenging levels. Along your journey, you’ll pass through meadows, forests and ancient villages, while also encountering alpine huts and plenty of local flavours.
Choose your route and recharge in the embrace of Bergamo’s nature!

If you prefer to start closer to the city, we recommend the route From Pontida to Sotto il Monte, in the Bergamo Island. Awaiting you between the Brembo and Serio rivers are chestnut groves, streams, and the two ancient abbeys of S. Giacomo in Pontida and S. Egidio in Fontanella.
A little further north, in Imagna Valley, you’ll find the gentle trail From Brumano to the Resegone mountain hut, which begins in the village and continues through peaceful woods and clearings, under the rocky slopes of Mount Resegone.
In the nearby Brembana Valley, you can challenge yourself with three exciting routes: one exploring the Taleggio Valley, another following the path of shepherds from Camerata Cornello up to the mountain huts (where you can still buy traditional cheeses), and a third taking you to the peaks of the Torcole, ending at the panoramic Gremei Refuge.
There are three more in Seriana Valley: From Aviatico to Monte Poieto, among rock towers and panoramic pastures; Val Sanguigno and Gianpace Mountain Hut, a wild haven full of springs and streams; and the circular Medici mountain hut under the Presolana, in the shadow of the "Queen of the Orobie."
And it doesn’t stop there! The Scalve Valley offers another special route: From Bueggio to the Gleno Dam, rising through forests to the “Giants’ Pots” and the remnants of the "dam that lasted 50 days." A place of tranquillity and remembrance.
Fancy a lake view? From the slopes of the Luen Hill and Mount Boario, you’ll enjoy a spectacular view over Lake Iseo, framed by olive groves and forests. The route that takes you there is From Riva di Solto to Fonteno – and yes, there’s even a Big Bench!
