“Eirenefest,” the book festival for peace and nonviolence at the “Booksellers’ Fair,” continues: meeting with author Viviana Daloiso and telling the story of women’s voices that changed history.
Women represent half the planet’s population: their mediation is essential for a just and lasting peace, but they are almost never present at the negotiating tables. When and where they have been allowed, however, negotiations have gone differently and the human has returned to the center. Telling of another Possible History are the voices of Miriam, Alganesh, Nadia, Shirin, Monica, Magda women who decided to respond to the logic of war with dialogue and engagement, not violence and weapons. Nobel laureates, activists, mediators, negotiators. These are some of the more than twenty women that “Avvenire” interviewed on the occasion of the #donneperlapace campaign. Intense stories and testimonies, collected for the first time in this book, accompanied by the interventions of diplomats, intellectuals, analysts and experts in international politics and illustrations by twelve IED students.

Review
EireneFest, Book Festival for Peace and Nonviolence born in Rome in 2022, arrives for the first time in Bergamo thanks to a group of local associations committed to peace and human rights. The festival promotes reflection, confrontation and relationships through books, enhancing the culture of nonviolence and solidarity. The Bergamo edition is held in collaboration with the independent bookstores of the historic Booksellers’ Fair. The Fair is organized in islands dedicated to different themes: fiction, nonfiction, local publishing, history, science, children’s literature and so on. In this edition an area dedicated to books on peace and nonviolence is added. Also among the book presentations, a section on the theme of education for peace and nonviolence has been organized with new publications and reflections, characterized by the logo of EireneFest.
