Val Sanguigno is a hidden gem in the wild Alta Val Seriana, famous for its intensely red autumn colors that tint the vegetation, giving its name to this enchanted valley.
This unspoiled little corner of paradise is a true jewel of biodiversity, one of the richest places in the Bergamo Orobie Park.
Your journey begins in Gromo, a village that stands out as one of the most beautiful in Italy.
Here, the harmony between man and nature is palpable, with a perfect balance of urban scenery and lush greenery.
From Gromo, begin the climb to Valgoglio, heading toward the natural oasis of Val Sanguigno.
The road takes you to the parking lot of the Aviasco power plant, a remarkable piece of architecture with its exposed stone blocks typical of the neo-medieval style.
This power plant is historically important, having been the first in the world to produce electricity using the waters of Lake Nero, with a water jump of as much as 1,000 meters.
At the base of the reservoir, the waters of the Goglio stream join those of the Sanguigno, which flows toward the Seriana Valley, just above Gromo.
The trail starts on the left of the hydroelectric plant, crossing a small concrete bridge under which you can see the Goglio stream rushing by.
As you enter the dense forest, the slope of the path increases rapidly, making you gain altitude.
As you continue, you meet the Sanguigno stream, which with a wide bend to the left accompanies you with its roar along the mule track.
The stream is a real spectacle, with its little jumps and waterfalls forming crystal-clear pools and puddles where the sunlight creates enchanting reflections.
The beauty of the Sanguigno Valley reveals itself even more as you continue, tackling challenging inclines, mule tracks and beech forests.
With each step, you will discover breathtaking landscapes and a rich variety of fauna and flora that keep your attention throughout the hour and a half hike.
The culmination of the route is the Gianpace Refuge, whose stone walls mark the end of this tour immersed in natural charm.
Here, the satisfaction of having reached the goal is combined with wonder at the beauty of nature, which reveals itself in all its magnificence to those who know how to look and listen.
