From March 29 to May 2, 2025, the Main Hall of the Palazzo Storico Creberg will host a precious nucleus of sculptures by Ugo Riva, presenting to the public the new installation that gives the exhibition its title (“The Golden Staircase”) and two historical works recently renovated by the same artist (“The Ark of Hope” and “Before the Mystery”).

To complete the event, a series of detailed sketches and preparatory drawings, made by the sculptor, will be exhibited in the Loggiato, which will colloquy with a photographic project by Andrea Sbardellati entitled “Animula. Visions of a journey inspired by the Genius Loci of the Vittoriale” born from an idea by Ugo Riva.

The exhibition “The Golden Staircase,” curated by Angelo Piazzoli and Ugo Riva, will open on Saturday, March 29, 2025; the first of two special openings of Palazzo Creberg offered to the public by Fondazione Creberg will take place from 5-7 p.m.

On the occasion of the opening of the exhibition, Ugo Riva will be honored at Palazzo Creberg with the important “National and International Montale Out of Home – Art Section Award” founded by Adriana Beverini in 1996 (Eugenio Montale’s birth centenary) to remember the Nobel Prize winner for Literature in every aspect, not only the universally known Poet, but also the Journalist, Essayist, Music and Art Critic.

The works on display dialogue with the sculpture Anima Mundi, a permanent sign commissioned by Fondazione Creberg from Ugo Riva to celebrate the 120th anniversary of Credito Bergamasco. Anima Mundi was placed in front of the main entrance of the Palazzo Storico, in Largo Porta Nuova, in 2011 after the restyling of the square carried out by Creberg to celebrate its 120th anniversary. In 2021, when the pandemic was still ongoing, Fondazione Creberg dedicated the monumental work to the memory of the Covid victims.

The exhibition will be open to the public from March 29 to May 2, 2025, with free access on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Two special openings are planned. The exhibition “The Golden Staircase,” curated by Angelo Piazzoli and Ugo Riva, will open on Saturday, March 29, 2025; the first of two special openings of Palazzo Creberg offered to the public by Fondazione Creberg will take place from 5-7 p.m. The second extraordinary opening, scheduled for April 5 from 3-7 p.m., will feature the artist, who will be available to talk with visitors.
