The Sanctuary of Sommaprada is located on the road between Clusone and Rovetta, in the Conca Verde locality, in an area dominated by meadows and plants close to a bank.
Also known as the Sanctuary of the Madonna dei Viandanti, it was erected in 1544, following a miracle on July 2, 1533, when the small chapel there with an effigy of the Madonna suddenly lit up to the rescue of a group of woodcutters attacked by brigands.
On the walls it is possible to glimpse some of the pilgrims’ gifts to Our Lady.
On the exterior façade is a fresco from 1921, reproducing the image of the Virgin of Sommaprada and, in the background, Rovetta, while inside the shrine is a late 15th-century fresco with the image of the Madonna holding the Child in her arms.
The Feast of the Apparition is celebrated on July 2.
