San Paolo Island is a charming islet positioned south of the larger Montisola, to which it was once joined by a walkable path in the seasons when the water was shallower.
Once considered a deserted and abandoned rock, the islet saw the birth of the convent of San Paolo in 1490 at the hands of the nobleman Alessandro Fenaroli, who housed the Friars Minor until 1783, when the property was sold to private owners.
