The Restaurant
The restaurant “Al Tram” in Sarnico was established in the old tram station. In 1951, a refreshment point was opened in the old “Tramvia” station that connected Sarnico to Trescore and Bergamo since the late 19th century. Immediately after World War II, the Plebani family took over the license of the “Caffè al Tram”: a trattoria, café, and ticket office. The success over the past 70 years can be attributed to the professionalism of this restaurateur family, who place the customer at the center of their attention. From the 1950s to today, the venue has transformed into a refined and elegant restaurant, a transformation completed by a recent total renovation aimed at achieving a more contemporary look while respecting its long tradition.
Regarding the Wines: there is an absolute preference for the range of wines from the family business “IL CALEPINO,” founded in 1972 and now considered one of the excellences of Lombard viticulture.
Customers find great satisfaction in tasting the menu paired with the wines, enjoying a direct relationship between producer and consumer.
The Restaurateur
Marco Plebani
The choice of ingredients always of the highest quality and the creation of recipes here are always in line with the restaurant’s philosophy: “Tradition in Sarnico since 1951.” The menu offered by the restaurant and its owner, Marco Plebani, follows the changing seasons and the availability of preferably local ingredients; some recipes are available all year round, while others are changed and refreshed every 60 days. Tradition plays an important role here, as do attention to new trends and updates: this combination is the key to the restaurant’s success. The chefs engage in preparing classic Bergamasque recipes like casoncelli, traditional lake dishes such as the classic lake fish, along with “innovative” cuisine recipes that keep the passion and creativity alive.
