In a natural amphitheater among the hills of Scanzorosciate, in the province of Bergamo, lies the Martinelli – Cascina San Giovanni winery. Daniela, the hostess, welcomes her guests in the new semi-underground cellar built by the estate, perfectly blending with the spacious outdoor areas in the beautiful setting of a hillside vineyard landscape. Visitors immediately feel at home thanks to the warm atmosphere that characterizes the hospitality at the winery.
The vineyards of the Martinelli – Cascina San Giovanni winery are rich in Sass de Luna, a limestone marl formation that gives the Moscato di Scanzo its unique organoleptic characteristics, extracted from the subsoil. Here, the grapes are grown that will be transformed into the famous DOCG wine. Every year, between late September and early October, the sweet scent of ripe grapes fills the air as they are harvested in the vineyard and brought to the winery for the drying process.
The winery also produces other labels, such as the Moscato Giallo di San Giovanni, the Eremita—a blend of Moscato di Scanzo and Cabernet Sauvignon—the Brut Ros-â Ros-ae Charmat Method with Moscato di Scanzo grapes, the Sass de Luna Classic Method 100% Chardonnay, aged Moscato grappa, and Napoleon Gin of Scanzo. Visitors have access to ample spaces for both social gatherings and business meetings or team-building events.
The winery is always open for sales, while visits and tastings are available by appointment only.
