Two days to discover some gems of the Brembana Valley: from the marvelous frescoes of the Baschenis, to the incredible history of the Tasso Family, from ancient roads that shaped the history of valley trade to small hamlets that preserve cults, traditions, and fragments of past lives.
Overnight stay in an ancient local residence in the heart of one of the most beautiful medieval villages in Italy, where you will find peace and tranquility in a timeless place.
The journey begins with the discovery of an unusual corner of Valtorta, a town already renowned for its mill, hydraulic sawmill, and ethnographic museum. In Cantello, a district characterized by a curious frescoed house and an ancient street that winds under a short arcade, accompanied by the guides of Le Terre dei Baschenis, we will hear the story of a community that was not spared from the plague and turned to Saints Roch and Sebastian, as testified by the small church in the village. The journey continues with the exploration of the medieval village of Cornello dei Tasso and the eponymous family, which gave rise to the modern postal system, followed by an immersion into the history of the Baschenis family, renowned fresco painters of the Upper Valley who left their mark in some local churches, such as the wonderful countryside church of San Ludovico in Bretto: a hidden gem you wouldn’t expect!
The exclusive overnight stay at La Tana del Tasso, in the heart of Cornello dei Tasso, will allow you to live in a timeless village, in an ancient local residence where modernity and tradition create a fascinating atmosphere.
