Welcome to Bergamo!
I became a qualified Tourist Guide in 1995, obtaining the license issued by the regional tourist authority (n° 289/97 Regione Lombardia L. R. 65/86).
I currently work as a free-lance tour guide, qualified in Italian and German.
I am very proud of my town and of its notable natives: for example, I often take the tourists (but not only) around the historical centre to show them the places connected to Gaetano Donizetti’s life, education and memory.
Thanks to my previous work experiences, I speak German fluently and I can say without a doubt that I know the German mentality so well: that’s why I often organize specific tours for German-speaking journalists. I enjoy showing them the treasures and the secrets of my hometown.
I also worked as a consultant for several documentaries about Bergamo: “Bergamo”, directed by Carlo Lizzani in 2005 and “Revolution in Vatikan” by Jan Frerichs in 2012, just to name a few. The latter, produced by ZDF (Second German Television) dealt with Pope Saint John XXIII’s life. On that occasion I showed and explained the Upper Town and the village of Sotto il Monte Giovanni XXIII, the birthplace of the Good Pope.
In 2007 I personally managed guided tours of Bergamo for over 3000 tourists coming from Austria. More than sixty visits took place in four weeks.
In 2008 a colleague and I were called to compose the scripts for the audio guide of the City Sightseeing bus of Bergamo.
In 2008 – 2009 I wrote a description of the sixty villages for the panels located along the bike trails of the Province of Bergamo.
Every single visit is a gift, it’s something rewarding…but some visits are more special than others: some of them are engraved in my heart! On 2nd February 2011 I had the great honour to explain the Colleoni Chapel to the President of the Republic of Italy in person, Mr Giorgio Napolitano, who came to Bergamo to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Unification of Italy.
