All seasons are good for appreciating the beauty of the lake, but nothing beats the summer when one can take evocative cruises on boats that ply the tranquil waters of the lake discovering hidden landscapes and ancient villages.
Among the destinations suggested in all the guidebooks is Montisola, from which cars are banned: ideal for walking or biking trips, especially for families or groups with children, also because two-wheelers are welcome on the boats.
And along with Montisola, the small islets of Loreto and San Paolo filled with history and rich vegetation deserve special mention.
Absolutely not to be missed are the nighttime cruises, dining while the banks dotted with illuminated villages parade before your eyes, including the spectacular moonlit view of the “Bogn,” the vertiginous cliff face that ends steeply in the water at Riva di Solto.
