On April 30, Bergamo Jazz Festival joins the celebration of International Jazz Day with an extraordinary event near the Walls of Bergamo, a UNESCO-protected property that has been promoting International Jazz Day itself worldwide since 2011. At sunset, pianist Claudio Vignali will accompany the setting of the sun by letting his improvisational flair flow. It is an event that underscores the sharing values of jazz and further testifies to Bergamo Jazz Festival’s connection with its territory.

Claudio Vignali is one of the most significant Italian jazz pianists of his generation. In 2013 he won third prize overall at the most important international jazz piano competition, “Parmigiani Montreux International Jazz Piano Solo Competition,” where he had previously been selected among 10 jazz pianists under 30 worldwide. In addition to earning other prizes and awards, he has collaborations with leading international artists to his credit, including: Dave Weckl, Joe Locke, Tiger Okoshi, Rob Mazurek, Gretchen Parlato, Shawnn Monteiro, Alex Sipiagin, Eivind Aarset, Arne Hiorth, Oddrun Eikli, Gunnar Gunnarsson, Tarun Balani. He holds degrees in classical piano and jazz music and has also always had an interest in electronic sounds.
