Bergamasque wine production is not limited to Denominations of Origin, but also includes a Typical Geographical Indication: the Bergamasca.
Specifically, there are rows of vines extending for some seventy kilometers from the Adda River to Lake Iseo, as well as hilly areas such as the Cavallina Valley, the lower Camonica Valley from Lovere to Rogno, the western shore of Lake Iseo, the Seriana Valley and the Brembana Valley, all, of course, Bergamasque territories. Bergamasca IGT white wine must consist of at least 85 percent of vines authorized for the province of Bergamo, and the regulations govern the various stages of production including an alcohol content of 11 percent. The coloring of this wine is straw yellow, and suggested pairings are fish, vegetables and light pasta dishes.
