The healing center of Trescore Balneario

Want to soak in the same waters that attracted the ancient Romans or the famous Colleoni?
Head to the hot springs of Trescore!

Description

Certainly ancient are the origins of the very well-known spa town of Trescore Balneario, located in Val Cavallina, an important link between Bergamo and Lake Iseo.

It was probably the Romans who discovered and turned to the therapeutic properties of the sulfurous waters that flowed from the heart of the valley.

The virtues of these springs continued to be utilized even after the fall of Rome: one of the most illustrious frequenters was Bartolomeo Colleoni, the famous condottiere, who had the baths rebuilt in the medieval monastery that arose along the ancient road of Roman origin that connected the Po Valley to the lake and the Camonica Valley.

In the nineteenth century, more and more guests took advantage of it, thanks in part to the fame derived from the presence of some well-known figures such as Giuseppe Garibaldi.

The spa complex, located in the center of a vast park, is now frequented for the treatment, in particular, of the respiratory system and circulatory and skin diseases.
Nearby, a must-see is the Villa Suardi Chapel frescoed by Lorenzo Lotto.
