The Cespedosio Refuge is located over a thousand meters above sea level on the eastern slope of Mount Venturosa.
This refuge is the ideal starting point for exploring the high peaks of the area, offering hikers breathtaking views and total immersion in nature.
To reach the refuge, you have two options.
If you prefer to drive, you can take the Valle Brembana state road 470.
On the way, it passes through an impressive marble quarry, a landmark that will indicate that you are on the right road.
Keep following the signs and, in no time, you will reach Rifugio Cespedosio.
If, on the other hand, you want a more adventurous and immersive experience, you can start walking from the Camerata Cornello Church.
Park your car at the sports field near the church and begin the trail.
The trail, which takes about an hour and a half to walk, will take you through enchanting landscapes to the hut.
The route is particularly scenic and scenic, taking you to an altitude of over 1,400 meters with gradients of no more than 10°.
On the way up, you will pass picturesque towns such as Era.
This hamlet, with its mountain houses and old-fashioned atmosphere, will make you feel as if you have gone back in time, offering a taste of traditional valley life.
Along the way, there will be no shortage of opportunities for pleasant stops.
Viewpoints are numerous and offer spectacular views of the Brembana Valley.
In addition, you may encounter local shepherds, who often offer their typical products for sale.
Among these, cheese stands out for its quality and tradition.
The Brembana Valley, also known as Cheese Valley, received recognition as a UNESCO Creative City for Gastronomy in 2019, highlighting its importance in the dairy scene.
Once you arrive at the Cespedosio Refuge, the route continues slightly downhill following the paved road to the locality of Era.
Now follow via Era that, with moderate slope, climbs and then bends to the right becoming later a beautiful agro-silvo-pastoral road at the edge of the forest and green pastures that descend from baita Campelli.
The road continues upstream from the baita and comes out of the woods, allowing you to enjoy the green meadows, the blue of the sky and the panorama that now opens onto the entire Valle Brembana, all enveloped by the intense scent of hay typical of the plateau.
Continue slightly uphill and reach, after a last hairpin bend, Baita Campo, at an altitude of 1440 meters, the culmination of this special Brembana hike.
For more experienced walkers, there are additional adventures you can continue until you reach Baita Maffenoli, located at 1,367 meters above sea level, with an additional walk of about 20 minutes.
Alternatively, you can follow Trail 128, which will take you all the way to Piazza Brembana, adding another challenge to your itinerary.
