At Foppenico di Calolziocorte, on the edge of the ancient San Martino Valley, stands the sanctuary of Lavello.
The origins of the church go back a long way.
It is said that a small church dedicated to the Virgin existed next to a stately castle in 1014.
In 1480, when the church was being enlarged, a hermit discovered a sarcophagus and a spring that turned out to be miraculous.
Since then, numerous prodigious events have been attributed to Our Lady.
