Palazzo Gallavresi, named after its last owner, has been a noble residence since the 16th century.
It was in fact inhabited by Giampaolo Sforza, first marquis and son of the Moor, best man at the wedding of Michelangelo Merisi’s parents.
Along the facade are tombstones of Vittorio Emanuele II, Garibaldi, Cavour and Mazzini placed near the ancient openings set in Gothic-style arches.
The building preserves a Pinacoteca Civica on the main floor, where it is possible to appreciate works by sixteenth- and seventeenth-century painters such as Moietta and Procaccini, and especially canvases by the romantic Moriggia.
