Lurano Castle

An ancient aristocratic mansion waiting to be discovered, including fascinating interiors and a unique botanical garden

Description

The Castle of Lurano, for centuries the residence of the Counts Secco Suardo, once a real fortified village due to the proximity of the Fosso Bergamasco, today presents itself as an articulated set of building bodies developed around the inner courtyard.

The 17th-century aristocratic chapel preserves ancient tombstones, and the garden, a Botanical Garden in the 18th century, preserves some rare species of trees.

It is home to the “Giovanni Secco Suardo” Restoration Study and Research Center, with its library and database of the National Historical Archives of Italian Restorers.
