At the base of the Campanone you can see the remains of the Roman forum: between the 1st and 2nd centuries AD, the forum was the center of the city, the heart of public life.
Public and religious ceremonies were held here, assemblies were held, justice was administered, and business was conducted.
Little is known about the forum in Bergamo: the remains of a few stores and a street are visible.
Remnants of the proto-urban center of the Golasecchian Celts, the first inhabitants of the hill between the 10th and 9th centuries BC, can also be seen here.
