Visconti Castle of Trezzo

From the top of the lofty tower to the mysterious dungeons to uncover the mysteries of Visconti Milan in the 1300s.
Trezzo Castle is the guardian of the Adda River, still guarding the ancient borders.

Description

Built in the mid-1400s by Barnabò Visconti, probably among the most imposing it was used as a military fortress but also as a summer residence for the lords of Milan.

Strange events characterized the building from the very beginning; the owner himself was poisoned in the very dungeon beneath the Manor House.

Conquered in 1402 by the Colleoni family, it was the target of wars and military stratagems: in fact, it lost its bridge in 1416 under heavy catapult blows!

During the Sforza period it was also the subject of one of Leonardo da Vinci’s drawings!

Today in a wonderful park inhabited by squirrels and animals in the Adda Nord Park, its tallest Visconti tower in the region, very large dungeons and dungeons that extend into the bowels of the earth just below the remains of the fortress remain.

It now hosts about 30,000 tourists a year.
