Shrine of St. Patrick

So perched that it looks more like a castle than a shrine!
It defends inside it a very ancient little church and a small museum

Description

Set on a hill near Colzate, visible when driving along the Seriana Valley between Vertova and Casnigo, the Sanctuary of St. Patrick encloses a very old church from the late 13th century.

Isolated on sheer walls so much so that it looks like an ancient fortress, the shrine was built beginning in 1580 and completed some 20 years later.

Every year at the feast of Corpus Christi, a grand procession is held in Gandino, in which the Confraternities and people from all over the area take part.
In Gandino, splendid, is the basilica of Santa Maria Assunta, which houses a conspicuous artistic heritage in its museum.
