As in other towns in the Bergamo area, there is ample evidence in Martinengo of the characteristic ring-shaped urban layout, where the village fortification and a deep moat protected the village buildings.
Having reached the heart of Martinengo, to the left of the town hall we find Via Castello.
It is enough to walk a few meters to admire a majestic tower of 15th-century origin: it is what remains of an ancient fortress that belonged to the Martinengo-Colleoni family.
