The buildings facing the station square tell a story in constant motion, following the pace of technological innovations.
The Ferrovia delle Valli building once housed the station from which trains to the Seriana and Brembana Valleys departed, opened in 1906.
Passengers could thus also reach San Pellegrino, a famous spa resort that was popular at the time.
The Art Nouveau style of the beautiful Casinò and Grand Hotel of San Pellegrino, built in those years by Romolo Squadrelli himself, is taken up in less lavish forms suited to the different use in the railway line stations.
You can see above the central portal and above the two side entrances, the representation of the winged wheel.
This symbol was included in the first logo used by the State Railways.
One more thing
When the railway line was decommissioned, the building became a bus station in 1967 and now houses offices.
In the Seriana Valley direction, the new TEB tramway line, which runs on part of the old railway line, has been in operation since the end of 2009.
