The Orobie Bergamasche Park is surely one of the most extensive high-natured protected areas in Lombardy.
Peaks over 3000m above sea level and extensive valleys will leave you breathless with amazing and unspoiled scenery.
Extensive forests and grasslands create a rich mosaic of habitats that are home to species of flora and fauna protected by the European Union for their high naturalistic value: this is why the Orobie Bergamasche Park is known as one of the territories in Europe with the highest biodiversity.
It is divided into two areas: the northern part and the southern part.
To the north, the highest peaks that stand out are Pizzo Coca and Pizzo Redorta, while to the south are Aralalta and Presolana.
A special feature of this park is its wealth of water.
The valleys are traversed by the Brembo, Serio, and Dezzo rivers, which flow through the Brembana, Seriana, and Scalve Valleys, respectively.
Between the Seriana and Brembana Valleys are about one hundred crystal-clear water alpine lakes and numerous waterfalls, some spectacular and impressive.
Prominent among them all are the Serio Waterfalls: they are the highest in Italy and the second highest in Europe.
From the Piano del Barbellino, the waterfalls rise for three successive jumps, descending from a height of 315m.
During scheduled openings in the summer period, a unique spectacle can be witnessed: about 10000 cubic meters of water cascade down into a mountain amphitheater.
