Liceo Classico Paolo Sarpi - Ex-convent S. Maria di Rosate

Description

From 1815 to 1859, with its annexation to the Austro-Hungarian Empire, Bergamo was part of the Lombardy-Venetia Kingdom.

This palace, built in the years 1841-1846 in the neoclassical style by Ferdinando Crivelli, was desired by the Austrian government as the seat of the Imperiale Regio Liceo, Bergamo’s highest educational institution.

The Liceo was where the city’s ruling class was formed between the nineteenth and twentieth centuries and remained active in the civic and professional life of the city of Bergamo.
