The castle is located overlooking the Oglio River valley and stands on the edge of the protective core of Calepio on the remains of an earlier early medieval fort.
The building in its present layout was generated around 1430.
The route through the village to the castle offers the chance to grasp important historical aspects because it winds among authentic buildings and gives a wide and pleasant viewpoint of the surrounding river landscape.
Of the manor that was both a military garrison and a stately residence, today the severity of the defensive bulwark shines through. Inside, elegant rooms decorated with paintings and fine stucco work.
Public openings are managed by the Conti Calepio Foundation and posted in the news section of their website while private tours can be arranged for groups of a minimum of 15 people.
