The Misericordia Consortium, a charitable institution founded in 1265, completed this building, the largest Baroque palace in Bergamo, in 1664.
A two-flight staircase leads to the second floor, where the Donizettiano Museum is housed.
In addition to being the seat of the Consortium, the palace first housed the Collegio Mariano, the city’s most important educational institution before of the Napoleonic advent and, since 1908, the Civico Istituto Musicale Gaetano Donizetti.
