An important access road to the City, it takes its name from a frescoed gateway inserted in the medieval city wall, demolished in the sec.
19TH CENT.
In the Church of San Michele al Pozzo Bianco from the sec.
15th century, there are frescoes of the Life of Mary by Lorenzo Lotto from 1525.
The Venetian painter, who lived in Bergamo from 1514 to 1525, lived in one of the no longer preserved Bonghi family houses overlooking the small square.
