Established as a country house, or perhaps anciently as a fortified place, it still has the dual appearance of an eighteenth-century resort and an ancient farmhouse with stables, wine cellars and stables around a rustic courtyard overlooked by an old farmhouse characterized by a portico and loggias with the remains of ancient sacred frescoes from medieval times.
The dominical palace was restored between 1855 and 1858 by architect Giacomo Bianconi, who left you with a sober and essential exterior that contrasts sharply with the opulence of the interior decoration: on the lower floor the halls feature pavilion vaults decorated by Scrosati with ornamental drapery motifs, precious stones, medallions with characters or genre scenes, frames with bucolic landscapes, musical instruments, and putti.
Furniture, objects and portraits from different eras that adorn the walls are to be ascribed to the Finardi family, which still inhabits the villa surrounded by the large park with centuries-old plants.
The outward look, sober and essential, is a simple prelude to the magnificence of the internal decorations:rooms with rich vaults decored by Scrosati, precious frames, forniture and ornaments of different epochs.
Finardi family lives in the palace from the 1800, but in the 1700 it was the residence of the Grsmondi’s and it became literary parlour of the poetress Paolina Grismondi Secco Suardo, best known with the pen-name Lesbia Cidonia. She was very appeciated by Mascheroni and friend to the main scholars of the time. The palace is situated in a majestic park of 30.000 mq, where nature and silence reign, and it is very near to the city center.
