St. Michael's Fountain at the White Well

Description

The profile of the arch denotes the nineteenth-century neoclassical character.
Beneath the stone facing, however, an older architectural structure is discernible, namely the arrangement of the rear collection chamber typical of medieval fountains.
It was fed by the Prato Baglioni aqueduct, which also fed the nearby fountain on Osmano Street.

Going up Via Porta Dipinta toward the church of S. Michele, a few meters from the fountain one finds a circular manhole that shows the exact location of the ancient Pozzo Bianco, probably named for the use of local marble from the nearby quarries of Zandobbio.
